燃料的一大类。能产生热能或动力的固态可燃物质。大都含有碳或碳氢化合物。天然的有木材、泥煤、褐煤、烟煤、无烟煤、油页岩等。经过加工而成的有木炭、焦炭、煤砖、煤球等。 固体燃料还有一些特殊品种，如固体酒精、固体火箭燃料。与液体燃料或气体燃料相比，一般固体燃料燃烧较难控制，效率较低，灰分较多。
