商业信贷是由商业交易产生的短期负债。企业通过赊购方式向供应商购买原材料可暂缓货币支出，从而取得临时占用一部分资金的权利。这部分资金构成了企业的应付账款，用来衡量企业获得的商业信贷的数额。同时，企业在出售商品时向客户提供商业信贷，即通过赊销暂缓货款回收，形成应收账款。通常企业会给予早付款的客户一定数量的现金折扣，而暂缓付款则放弃了这部分现金折扣。现金折扣构成了商业信贷的成本。
