呼吸肌疲劳（又呼吸肌无力）是指由多种原因引起的呼吸肌舒缩活动不能产生维持一定的肺泡通气量所需要的胸腔压力，肌肉本身可表现为肌力和（或）舒缩速度的下降，且这种能力的下降经过休息能够恢复。若休息后不能恢复则称为呼吸肌无力（weaknees）。膈肌是最主要的呼吸肌，因此，狭义上的呼吸肌疲劳实际是指膈肌疲劳。
