周族，属于姬姓部族，发祥于关陇地区，父、母系分别是黄帝有熊氏和炎帝后裔有邰氏之后裔。《史记》等文献记载的周人祖先是黄帝曾孙帝喾和元妃姜嫄的儿子后稷。 武王伐纣，周朝建立。周天子封诸侯时，其中姬姓国53个。多数诸侯国以被封之地为姓，姓氏合一，这样就出现了姬、周、吴、郭、鲁、唐、魏、韩等姓氏，这些姓氏就多是周族的子孙后代。
