向心的 centripetal 生物，特别是植物，它的成长、形态分化、成熟过程、运动等都是向体轴戏中心方向以由远及近的形式进行的，所谓“向心的”就是在这方面所用的术语。原则上这与向顶是一致的。“离心的”是它的反义词。例如，所谓向心的雄蕊群（cetripetal andr-oecium），就是一朵花的雄蕊从外侧向花的中心部依次成熟（木兰）。但就一个花瓣或普通叶来说，而叶本身对主轴则成为茎的二次轴，从植物整体情况来说，却与相反的向基性是一致的。
