患者俯卧于摄影台上，两肘弯曲，两手放于身体两侧或头旁。踝部下方垫以沙袋，将足稍抬高，可使患者较舒适。头颅正中面对台面中线并垂直于台面，前额和鼻紧靠台面，使听毗线与台面垂直。暗盒上缘超出头颅，下线包括下颌骨，或将鼻根放在暗盒中心。
目的为内听道后前位摄片提供解剖学基础。
