同州，即今渭南市大荔县，周初，为古同国。 “二华关渭水，三城朝郃阳”是对同州区域包含的大抵概括，其中二华指华阴、华县，关即潼关，水为白水。三城指韩城、澄城、蒲城，朝为当时的朝邑县，余郃阳县用全名，恰到好处。 同州府历史上也曾称左冯翊。
