叠层石构造(stromatolitic structure)又称叠层构造,由蓝绿藻(隐藻)呈层状生长,其细胞分泌黏液质捕陷和粘结沉积质点经碳酸盐化变硬而成。由两种基本层组成:①富藻纹层,又称暗层,藻类组分含量多;②富屑纹层,又称亮层,碎屑组分含量多。两种基本层叠置出现,即形成叠层构造。叠层构造形态变化多样,基本形态有层状、波状、柱状及锥状,发育于从潮上到潮下的潮间带。
