原生黄土又称老黄土，是干旱、半干旱气候条件下形成的一种特殊的第四纪陆相沉积物。主要由疏松的粉砂粒构成，灰黄色，富含易溶岩及钙质结核，柱状节理发育，能保持直立陡壁，遇水易崩解，并具湿陷性。
黄土节理主要分为原生节理、构造节理、风化节理和卸荷节理。
