原煤是指煤矿生产出来的未经洗选、筛选加工而只经人工拣矸和杂物的产品。包括天然焦及劣质煤，不包括低热值煤(如石煤、泥炭、油页岩等)；原煤按其成因可分为腐植煤、腐泥煤和腐植腐泥煤三大类；按其碳化程度可分为泥煤、褐煤、烟煤、无烟煤。
