原始次生林（ secondary forest），是原始森林经过多次不合理采伐和严重破坏以后自然形成的森林，与原始林一起同属天然林。中国次生林约占全国森林面积的46.2%，约占全国森林总蓄积量的23.3%。次生林多为幼壮林，常以阔叶树种居优势，林相混杂，乔木、灌木混生，生长率较低，材质不良，利用价值受一定影响。
