中国国标GB/T 15574—2016《钢产品分类》国家标准中将板带钢粗分为薄板（小于3mm)和厚板（不小于3mm）。 科学研究与生产中我国将板带钢按厚度分为极薄带、薄板、中板、厚板和特厚板五大类。我国将厚度在0.2mm以下的钢板称为极薄带，厚度为0.2-3mm的钢板称为薄板，厚度为3-20mm的钢板称为中板，厚度为20-60mm的钢板称为厚板，厚度在60mm以上的钢板称为特厚板。
