我国历来有重视历史教育的传统。唐代史学家刘知几指出：“史之为用，其利甚博，乃生人（民）之要务，为国家之要道。”当代思想家任继愈先生则认为“史学关系到国家的存亡”，“是国家兴亡之学，民族盛衰之学”，必须重视历史学和历史教育工作。但近年来，中国的学校历史教育出现了一些问题。国内的历史教育工作者，应借鉴国外同行的经验，不辱时代使命，振兴中国历史教育。
