南淝河,古称施水,长江流域巢湖的支流。发源于合肥市西北部江淮分水岭东南侧,跨蜀山区、长丰县两地交界处高刘镇岗北村何老家村民组西北侧的红石桥。经鸡鸣山,向东南流入董铺水库,穿合肥城区,再转向东南流经合肥市包河区和肥东县边界,于施口注入巢湖。南淝河全长70公里,流域面积1700平方公里。 南淝河是合肥的母亲河,其上游的董铺等水库是合肥市的水源地,河道历史上是合肥市区的重要航道,传说,合肥之名也是因为南淝河和东淝河相交得名,合肥(淝)。
