千代田装甲巡洋舰 由英国J.Brown工厂（J Brown Clydebank）建造，设计上属于法式巡洋舰。1888年12月4日开工建造，1890年6月3日下水，1890年12月建成，1891年4月回日本，是日本海军历史上第二艘采用“千代田”舰名的军舰。
