北极二（β UMi/ 小熊座β），是小熊座内小北斗的第二大亮星，中国古代称为“帝星”。 北极二的亮度是2.1等，目前距离北极16度，是一颗距离地球110光年远的黄巨星。他的真实光度是太阳的130倍，表面温度约4,000K。 北极二和邻近的北极一（小熊座γ）都是肉眼可见的恒星，在公元前1,500至公元500年间一起成为当时的北极星。由于岁差的原因，在这之前的北极星是右枢，之后则是勾陈一。（北极星会因为地球自转轴的进动而不停地更换。）
