化学电池是指能将化学能转变为电能的装置。主要部分包括电解质溶液和浸入溶液的正负两个电极。使用时，将导线联接两个电极，即有电流通过(放电），因而获得电能。放电到一定的程度后，电能减弱，有的可经充电复原而再使用，称做蓄电池，如铅蓄电池、铁镍蓄电池等，有的不可充电复原，称做原电池，如干电池、丹聂耳电池、燃料电池等。
