助教，是大学教师职称的最低等级，是高等学校教员老师中职称低于讲师的一种初级职称，助教原则上不能单独授课，或不能教授全部一门学科的课程，应跟随讲师或教授批改作业，辅助其教学。教师职称等级由低到高依次是，助教、讲师、副教授、教授。基本意义就是协助教学。
