前葡萄膜炎是葡萄膜炎中最常见的一种类型，占葡萄膜炎总数的50%以上，可表现为急性、慢性、肉芽肿性和非肉芽肿性炎症。大致可将前葡萄膜炎分为三类： 1.第一类仅出现急性前葡萄膜炎，此类患者多呈HLA－B27抗原阳性，并且多合并有强直性脊椎炎、牛皮癣性关节炎、Reiter综合征和炎症性肠道疾病； 2.第二类为慢性前葡萄膜炎，如Fuchs综合征、儿童白色葡萄膜炎； 3.第三类是既可表现急性炎症，又可为慢性炎症，幼年型慢性关节炎、结核、梅毒等均可引起此症。
