切口疝气病是发生于手术切口部位的疝，一般见于腹部手术后，特别是腹部的纵行手术切口区。腹部手术切口愈合后，如果腹壁局部组织出现缺损，腹内器官组织可突出到正常腹膜壁层平面以外，称为腹壁切口疝。
由于年老、受伤、旧的手术切口、或者先天的皮肤薄弱，腹壁在压力下会从薄弱的地方(或其它地方)产生疝气。任何年龄的人都可以患有疝气。
