本文在对大量图片进行各种综合处理的基础上，总结出将图象进行灰度化、锐化、二值化、中值滤波的预处理方法，很好地消除了图象的噪音，强化了纵向纹理区域；通过对车牌特征和定位技术的深入研究，提出了基于纹理特征的两种定位方法：一种是基于移差扫描和窗口搜索的车牌定位方法，另一种是基于分形盒子维数的车牌定位方法。
