凸缘是指容器开孔处的一种联接件，当需要紧凑连接并保证刚度时，可用短而厚的凸缘来代焊接管，如视镜、手孔和搅拌轴的引出口等。凸缘的对外连接方式用螺栓或螺纹，带螺纹的短管又称“牙管”，并有内牙管和外牙管两种。为使开孔处得到补强并能埋入螺栓或车出螺纹，要求凸缘具有一定的轴向高度和径向尺寸。凸缘与壳体之间用焊接，并有插入式和安放式两种结构。
