冰草，（Agropyron cristatum）别名野麦子、扁穗冰草、羽状小麦草。冰草为禾本科多年生旱生禾草，是温带干旱地区最重要的牧草之一。能生长在干燥草地、山坡、丘陵以及沙地。由于品质好，营养丰富，适口性好，各种家畜均喜食；又因返青早，能较早地为放牧家畜提供青饲料。它特别具备抗旱、耐寒、耐牧以及产子较多等特性，在放牧地补播和建立旱地人工草地中具有重要的作用。由于冰草的根为须状，密生，聚沙套和入土较深特性，因此，它还是一种良好的水土保持植物和固沙植物。
