倒拖，是指当拖船吊拖大船首、尾时，若拖缆与拖船首尾线一致，在大船有过大的冲势或退势时，拖缆对拖船的张力超过拖船本身的拉力，大船反而拖动拖船倒行的现象。此时拖船在拖缆的张力和拖船倒行的水动压力之合力的作用下，很快靠近大船,甚至触碰大船的现象。倒拖时，拖船失去舵效，也可能造成横拖。
