个案研究（case study)也称个案调查。对某一特定个体、单位、现象或主题的研究。这类研究广泛收集有关资料，详细了解、整理和分析研究对象产生与发展的过程、内在与外在因素及其相互关系，以形成对有关问题深入全面的认识和结论。个案研究的单位可以是个人、群体、组织、事件或者某一类问题，由此而产生人员研究个案，各生活单位或社会团体个案、传播媒介个案，以及各种社会问题个案等。
