一译修道院。基督教培养教会职业人员的学校。源于拉丁文seminarium，意为“苗圃”。分小修院和大修院。小修院学制三年，主要学习拉丁文和古典文学;大修院学制六年，分经院哲学和神学两科，前者称“哲学院”，后者称“神学院”。学生称“修士”。特兰托公会议(1545—1563)决定每个教区都要建立修院。
