修辞（figure of speech；rhetoric ），即文辞或修饰文辞。“修”是修饰的意思，“辞”的本来意思是辩论的言词，后引申为一切的言词。修辞本义就是修饰言论，也就是可以在使用语言的过程中，利用多种语言手段以收到尽可能好的表达效果的一种语言活动。
