保护头盔是飞行员防护救生装备。主要功用是保护头部，防止因意外碰撞或迎面气流吹袭造成头部损伤。还兼有防眩光、防噪声、防辐射热等功用。可与供氧气装备、无线电通讯装置、瞄准具等配套使用。通常由防护外套、吸能部件、滤光镜、耳罩和F颚调节带等组成。防护外套是主要部件。它支承其他构件使头盔形成一个整体，同时与吸能部件结合起防碰撞作用。防护外壳多用玻璃钢制成。吸能部件有调节网式和衬垫式两种。
