保兑是由另一家银行对开证银行所开立的信用证承担不可撤销和没有追索权的付款责任的承诺。对信用证加以保兑的银行称为保兑银行。一般需要由资信度高的大银行保兑。保兑银行对信用证加以保兑，要在上面注明“保兑”字样。保兑银行对予以保兑的信用证有承担最终付款的责任。
