低阶煤（bituminous coal；bitumite:soft coal ;low-rank coal）：煤的一类。燃烧时火焰较长而有烟的煤，煤化程度较低的煤。外观呈灰黑色至黑色，粉末从棕色到黑色。由有光泽的和无光泽的部分互相集合合成层状，沥青、油脂、玻璃、金属、金刚等光泽均有，具明显的条带状、凸镜状构造。
