主观说是对美的本质的一种界说。中华人民共和国成立以来美的本质讨论中四种主要观点之一，主张美不在物，而是物在人的主观中的反映，美是一种观念。以吕荧、高尔太为代表。吕荧于1953 年发表的《美学问题》中提出：“美是人的一种观念”。“同是一个东西，有的人会认为美有的人却认为不美甚至于同一个人，他对美的看法在生活过程中也会发上变化”。由此论断美是主观的。
