中国宋代理学家程颐提出的一种道德修养方法。以敬作为修养方法,初见于《论语·子路》：“居处恭,执事敬”和《周易·文言》:“敬以直内,义以方外”。此处“敬”为谨慎的意思。程颐据此发挥为内心涵养功夫。
主啊，我们赞美祢，因为祢赐给我们敬虔的妻子和充满爱心的母亲，借着她们赐福给我们。
We praise you, Lord, for godly wives and loving mothers. You have blessed us through them.
求你向主为我央告。愿主教我有妥实敬怕主的心。也教我配作讨主恩典的仆人。
And pray to the Lord for me, that he may establish me in His fear, and show me, His servant, to be worthy of His goodness.
