观测恒星过中天（过观测站子午圈）时刻的一种天体测量仪器，又称子午仪。结构与子午环相似，但没有精密度盘。利用中星仪可以精确地测定恒星过中天的时刻，以求得恒星钟的钟差，从而确定世界时、恒星赤经和基本天文点的经度。
