东厂，明代官署名。即东缉事厂，中国明代的特权监察机构、特务机关和秘密警察机关。明成祖于永乐十八年（1420年）设立东缉事厂（简称东厂），由亲信宦官担任首领。地点位于京师（今北京）东安门之北（一说东华门旁）。明中叶后期锦衣卫与东西厂并列，活动加强，常合称为“厂卫”。东厂权力在锦衣卫之上，只对皇帝负责，不经司法机关批准，可随意监督缉拿臣民，从而开明朝宦官干政之端。
