上颌窦（maxillary sinus)为上颌骨体内的锥形空腔，窦壁为骨质，大部分为薄的密质骨板，内稍有松质骨，最薄的地方只有密质骨。窦壁直接被覆粘膜，支配牙齿及牙周组织的血管、神经，通行于骨内牙槽管之中或粘膜下。 鼻窦为鼻腔周围含气的骨质空腔，共四对，分别是额窦，蝶窦，筛窦，上颌窦。都有窦口与鼻腔相通，当引流不畅时容易发生炎症。
