abstract:Zeng Fanzhi ( 曾梵志) (born 1964, Wuhan, China) is an artist based in Beijing. From the earliest stages of his career, Zeng Fanzhi's paintings have been marked by their emotional directness, the artist's intuitive psychological sense, and his carefully calibrated expressionistic technique.
In one of the most elaborate displays, the Gagosian Gallery added a carpeted side room to its booth to showcase a pair of new pencil drawings of trees by ZengFanzhi, a Chinese painter who is better known for his colorful portraits of men wearing white masks.
