Two of the ships in question, the Admiral Chabanenko and the YaroslavMudry, are two of the newer and most capable members of the Russian fleet, coming into service in 1999 and 2009 respectively.
Different reports give differing numbers, but from what I can gather the following ships are involved: the destroyer Admiral Chabanenko, the frigates YaroslavMudry and Smetlivy, and three large landing craft carrying a contingent of marines.
