Sonia Bahri, from UNESCO said that science combined with gender equality could help achieve Millennium Development Goals.

It works in cooperation with a number of countries of the Middle East, Gulf States and South East Europe, in order to promote international understanding through educational and cultural projects, with a particular emphasis on gender equality.

The General Conference will decide on the proposed programme and budget for the 2012-2013 biennium, which gives priority to sustainable development, culture of peace and non-violence, with a special emphasis on gender equality, Africa, Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) and the most vulnerable segments of society.
