abstract:Windlesham is a village in the Surrey Heath borough of Surrey, England and civil parish that covers Bagshot and Lightwater in the same borough. Its name derives from the Windle Brook which runs south of the village into Chobham and the common suffix 'ham', the Old English word for 'homestead'.
Some of my favourites include the fields around Guildford Cathedral, Windlesham Arboretum, Lightwater Country Park, Frimley Lodge Park and the Basingstoke Canal, and the Thames Towpath.
The bridge on the main Enniskillen to Cavan road was blown up in November 1972, prompting a letter from the local Nationalist MP, John Carron, to Lord Windlesham, Minister of State at the Northern Ireland Office.
