abstract:William Wharton (7 November 1925 – 29 October 2008), the pen name of the author Albert William Du Aime (pronounced as doo-EM), was an American-born author best known for his first novel Birdy, which was also successful as a film.
Their popularity is rivalled by western writers of pulp fiction whose books have been translated into Polish: John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Danielle Steel, Erich Segal and, above all, WilliamWharton, an American writer who is far more widely read in Poland than in his own country.
