Abstract: Geometric correction, is to remove the geometric distortion of remote sensing images, is an important pre-processing in the application of remote sensing image. This paper discusses the principles and basic methods of the geometric correction, corrects the Haidong prefecture in Qinghaiwith ERDAS software, and visually represents the full process of geometric correction. The results show that the precision of geometric correction are affected by many factors, most notably the number and locationof GCP selected. The calibration accuracy is less than 0.5 pixel, which conforms to requirements.
