Every grain of sandwashed away by rain from mountains and from the land finally reaches these obstacles called dams which we built across rivers and remains there, diminishing further the water storage capacity of dams.
The work is part of a bigger project which has included a new sea defence structure further along the seafront to stop the sand being washed away in future.
