Ash, whose past includes a stint in the construction business, is currently a minister working volunteer work at a prison in Jefferson County, Colorado.
The minister hoped more people would volunteer so patrols could be set up in other areas including Wellington, Madeley, Dawley, Ironbridge and even Newport.
For Labour, shadow sports minister Clive Efford warned the government against "throwing away" the "the extraordinary contribution of the volunteer Games Makers".
