Reading from prepared remarks, Royal said the allegations were distressing, but still needed to be verified. She says Strauss-Kahn deserves to be presumed innocent, like anybody else, until found guilty.
Football's governing body handed out a ban until 2011 after they found the Blues guilty of inducing Gael Kakuta to break his contract with Lens in 2007.
The statement also said the law says a person is innocent until proven guilty and that until the club found out any more information there would be no further comment.
