abstract:Tony Kofi is a British Jazz multi-instrumentalist, a player of the alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, soprano saxophone and flute. He currently leads his own Tony Kofi Quartet, Tony Kofi Trio, and is also the co-founder of the Monk Liberation Band—a group which plays the music of Thelonious Monk.
In addition, he demanded the right to call scores of high-level witnesses in his defence, including former American president Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Britain's prime minister, Helmut Kohl, former Chancellor of Germany, Kofi Annan, the UN General Secretary, and Madeleine Albright, the former American secretary of state.
But the United Nations' secretary-general, Kofi Annan, wrote to Mr Allawi, President George Bush and the British prime minister, Tony Blair, arguing that the attack could trigger an all-out boycott of the election by Sunnis, and therefore undermine its legitimacy.
