The market for bras that enhance the female form has to contend with at least one natural development: unaugmented breasts are getting bigger by themselves, thanks to the pill and changes in diet.
The researchers compiled information from 34 centres in eight countries, 384 comparing women with the gene mutations who had cancer in one breast and 209 women with the gene mutations who had cancer in both breasts.
This could influence whether a younger woman chooses to have one or both breasts removed to prevent the disease, or to take medication such as Tamoxifen which may have pronounced side-effects.
