abstract:Teton National Forest was first established by the General Land Office on February 22, 1897 as the Teton Forest Reserve with . A commission was established in 1896 to plan for a system of national forest reserves, recommending an expansion of the territory protected by the Yellowstone Timberland Reserve.
The valley also includes the Grand Teton National Park and much of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

The hotel has its own wildlife biologist and photographer, Tenley Thompson, who created the programme and trained a team of naturalists to take small groups (with at least one guide for every five hotel guests) on customised wildlife safari tours through Bridger TetonNationalForest, Grand TetonNational Park and the National Elk Refuge.
