"We do sympathize with the plight of those affected but, unfortunately, the federal government doesn't have regulatory authority over noisepollution, " the spokesman said.
But noisepollution is only socially acceptable because society hasn't come to its senses, the way it has with smoking in restaurants and wearing seat belts and driving while drunk.
