The song was inspired by Keith Urban's song Stupid Boy, which Null heard while traveling to Nashville to record, and thought Stupid Girl would be a great song title.
Of course, Joey is so stupid that even though the girl explicitly told him in the first verse not to come over, he runs TOWARD angry daddy, thus getting the girl shot in the last verse.
