abstract:Strigimorphae is a proposed clade of neoavians that include owls and their nearest relatives as the result of the extensive DNA-DNA hybridization studies conducted in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s by Charles Sibley and Jon Edward Ahlquist. Their original Strigimorphae contain the orders Musophagiformes (turacos) and Strigiformes (owls and the addition of including caprimulgiform, goatsuckers and allies, families).
